A Message from the Principal of Lodge SchoolHello and welcome to the Lodge School website.
As you would expect I am extremely proud of our school and its staff, pupils and parents. Together I believe we have created a rather special school. Firstly, we are a non-selective school which means that all are welcome whatever their ability, race or background. Our small class sizes ensure each pupil receives individual attention and guidance.
Considering our mixed ability intake, our results are remarkable. This year Commonweal girls achieved 100% pass rate in A level and GCSE and Downside pupils gained entry to some of the country's top senior schools including Caterham, Whitgift, Trinity and of course, Commonweal!
Secondly, Lodge School is non-denominational which means that pupils of all faiths are respected with the understanding that within school the only thing that matters is mutual respect and a first class education.
In 2006, Lodge School became the first independent school in the UK to be awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark, which I believe to be an endorsement of our exceptional ethos and quality of teaching.
We are very much a single community where traditional values of respect, tolerance and good manners go hand in hand with allowing a pupil's natural personality to develop and flourish. The movers and shakers of the 21st century cannot just rely on good exam results!
For such a small school we have an extensive curriculum. Just one of the reasons that official DFES figures have shown Lodge School to be the top value added school in the area according to the latest available league tables.
And of course, the younger they join us, the more we can do. With the opening of West Dene we now take boys and girls from 2 years upwards - a secure, fun-filled environment where children learn to enjoy that learning is actually fun!
I would be delighted to show you around any or all of our 3 Lodges. If you would like to discuss your child's education with me personally please call Frances Lancaster on 020 8660 3179 for an appointment.
I know you will be impressed with what you see.
