The Sixth Form operates on a system of trust. It recognises the need for young adults to develop in an atmosphere of freedom which also encourages responsibility. On the one hand, Sixth Formers enjoy a different working relationship with staff, their own common room, more preparation periods, their own study room and greater control over the use of their time. On the other hand, they are leaders in the community serving as Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, School Prefects or House Captains.
Provision is made for students to study in the tranquillity of their own study room when they are not being taught. They also have access to the Library and Careers Room and unrestricted access to the IT suites.
The homework set by Staff should be regarded as a minimum and the successful A-level student is one who broadens and deepens her knowledge through extra reading - to learn more about the Curriculum click here.
The acquisition of learning skills is an important part of any VI Form programme. The skills acquired will be used not only in the VI Form, but also throughout Higher Education Courses. The aim is to help students to make the best use of their time and to increase confidence, motivation and performance.
Students may also have the opportunity to join Young Enterprise at which they learn team building skills and gain an insight into the world of business.
