Providing for gifted and talented pupils at Lodge SchoolOur school is committed to providing equal access for all pupils to the broad and balanced curriculum to which they are entitled, including the provisions of the National Curriculum. Children who are identified as gifted and/or talented may, at times, require a more specialised programme of extension than the majority of children of the same age, in part or all of their school work. We place a very high priority on the need to provide a sufficiently challenging curriculum for all pupils. For gifted and talented pupils in any age phase or subject area, differentiation will be a key part of ensuring extension and challenge. In addition, we will provide opportunities to identify and in turn nurture the talents and abilities of those who are gifted and/or talented through access or sign posting to extra curricular activities. In order to monitor and track our gifted and talented pupils, an annual audit of departmental enrichment activities is conducted across all three lodges. Within subject departments our highly trained staff closely monitor progress of individual pupils and plan challenging extension activities for more able, gifted and talented pupils.
